During this year a most dread portent took place. For the sun gave forth its light without brightness . . . and it seemed exceedingly like the sun in eclipse, for the beams it shed were not clear.

PROCUPIUS OF CAESAREA, 536 AD. THE YEAR AFTER THE CONSULSHIP OF BELISARIUS

The Long Night is a campaign set in the former Roman province of Britannia beginning in the year 536. In the wake of a cataclysmic event, the sun has been veiled behind an atmospheric dust cloud resulting in a prolonged winter, drought, and famine. Play is from the perspective of Angles, Jutes, Saxons, and other migrating tribes who have recently arrived in the land cold and hungry. The central theme of the game is survival in an increasingly harsh, violent, and lawless land.

In January 2023, I began the process of uploading all of my Long Night Campaign material to this website. This process will take a significant amount of time. Material will also change as the setting evolves over time and the mechanics get vetted through playtesting. Players and other interested parties are encouraged to check back frequently for updates and completed entries.
