As you review the lists of charms below, remember that:
- Casting charms (galdors) is a ritualized form of magic that involves harnessing the raw potency found in plants, animals, bones, minerals, and other materials. This power is then controlled and directed by means of the caster’s galdorcræft, or “song-power.”
- Magic-user (Galdre) characters begin play knowing all the level 1 charms.
- Magic-user characters may perform 2 known charms every day, and +1 additional known charm can be performed for every level of the magic-user (e.g., a 1st level magic-user may perform 3 charms per day, while a 2nd level magic-user may perform 4).
- Magic-user characters gain access to an additional level of charms every 2 levels of experience (e.g., at 3rd level a magic-user is capable of learning level 2 charms).

Charm against Fear
Duration: Special
Range: 20” (100 ft.)
This charm:
- grants immunity to the effects of fear to all allies with 100 feet of the magic-user.
- will negate the effects of fear, magical or otherwise, in any allies within 100 feet of the magic-user if the target makes a successful saving throw versus Spells. The save is modified by +1 per level of the magic-user.
- remains in effect indefinitely as long as the magic-user continues to ritually dance and sing.
Reversed: Charm for Fear
Duration: Special
Range: 20” (100 ft.)
This charm:
- causes any enemies within 100 feet of the magic-user to flee in fear unless a successful saving throw versus Spells is made.
- remains in effect indefinitely as long as the magic-user continues to ritually dance and sing.
Charm for Healing Wounds, Injuries, & Weariness
Duration: instant
Range: self or a touched living being
This charm:
- heals 1d6+1 hit points of damage for every four levels of the magic-user. This charm cannot grant more hit points than the target’s normal maximum.
- cures the target of paralysis.
- cures the target of weariness and any lingering effects associated with weariness.
- reduces healing time for serious injuries that have been inflicted as a result of the Death & Dismemberment chart by 1d6+1 weeks or months, depending on the injury.
This charm requires ritual preparation, wound binding, and the application of various components like medicinal herbs, poultices, etc. Therefore, this charm cannot be performed if the magic-user is being attacked in hand-to-hand combat, nor can the charm be performed on an ally engaged in combat.
Charm for Sensing Loathsome Things & Creatures
Duration: special
Range: 12” (60 ft.) for every four magic-user levels
This charm detects objects enchanted for evil purposes or living beings with evil intentions.
- This charm does not grant the ability to read minds, but only grants a general sense of malevolent intent.
- The referee determines what is considered “evil.” Some things that are potentially harmful, like traps, are not “evil.”
- This charm requires the magic-user to perform a ritual that will induce a trance-like state. The ritual requires a minimum of ten minutes, and the charm will remain in effect as long as the magic-user continues to sit in the trance-like state.
Charm for Sensing Magical Energies
Duration: special
Range: 12” (60 ft.) for every four magic-user levels
This charm determines if an enchantment has been placed on objects, areas, or creatures.
- This charm requires the magic-user to perform a ritual that will induce a trance-like state. The ritual requires a minimum of ten minutes, and the charm will remain in effect as long as the magic-user continues to sit in the trance-like state.
Charm for Strength & Courage
Duration: special
Range: 20” (100 ft.)
This charm:
- instills strength and courage by granting all allies within 100 feet a +1 bonus to attack, a +1 to damage rolls, and a +1 bonus to morale for every three levels of the magic-user.
- remains in effect indefinitely as long as the magic-user continues to ritually dance and sing.
Reversed: Charm for Weakness & Doubt
Duration: special
Range: 20” (100 ft.)
When employed against enemies, this charm:
- instills weakness and doubt by penalizing all foes within 100 feet with a -1 to attack rolls, a -1 damage rolls, and a -1 to morale for every three levels of the magic-user.
- remains in effect indefinitely as long as the magic-user continues to ritually dance and sing.
Charm to Ward against Loathsome Things & Creatures
Duration: 2 hours per three magic-user levels
Range: variable
This charm protects the magic-user from attacks by malevolent creatures, as follows:
- The caster gains a +1 bonus to saving throws versus the affected creatures attacks or special abilities for every four magic-user levels.
- Affected creatures’ attacks against the caster are penalized by -1 for every four magic-user levels.
- The initial range is 0 and protection is limited to the magic-user. Upon attaining 4th level, the ward extends 10 ft. around the magic-user, and will then expand an additional +10 feet for every four magic-user levels thereafter. Anyone within the ward will benefit from the charm’s protection.
Additionally, the charm prevents enchanted, constructed, or summoned creatures from attacking the magic-user in melee, though such creatures may still make ranged attacks. If the magic-user engages such a creature in melee, this protection against attacks is negated (although the magic-user retains the bonuses to saving throws and attack rolls mentioned above).
