I’ve always liked the old Judges Guild map for Huberic of Haghill found in the original Wilderlands of High Fantasy. Like the Keep on the Borderlands, with a little imagination it can serve as an excellent home base setting for the playing characters in a D&D campaign. I recently re-sketched the map by hand and then colored it with basic colored pencils. I also removed the legend key and numbers so that I could provide a copy to my players. It’s not an exact replica since I customized terrain like the tress. This map is also a little smaller in that the original is a few hex-columns wider on either side. But all the important stuff is here and scale is the same.
I like doing D&D maps by hand. I feel my amateurish quality and the use of simple materials give the documents a bit of a late-70s to early-80s feel.
The map looks great, hand-drawn but super close to the original! Very nice!!
Thanks Ron! Appreciate the kind words. Sorry for my delayed response. I haven’t been doing much with my blog lately (obviously). I hope to get back to it soon.
‘Tis a good blog!
