Wyrmas are believed by many to be dangerous reptilian monsters. Some wyrmas are said to be fiery creatures capable of flight, while others are cold, scaly, worm-like serpents found among the dead in the Underworld. Most tales about wyrmas speak of them as greedy and malevolent creatures that fiercely protect great hoards of treasure. Others tales describe them as maggoty serpents burrowing through the earth and sniffing out the buried corpses of the dead whose remains and burial hoards they ingest.
Wyrmas are also referred to as dracan, or “dragons.”
